Comparative Political Data Set by Government

Do- and R-Files to convert the data structure.

Note: During the process of translating the Do-Files into R-Code, we also adapted the rule assigning years of influence to governments. The new rule assigns a year to the government that was in power for the longest period during the first eight months of the year. Governments which do not have a year of influence are taken out of the data, but this can be changed in the code. Thus, these changes result in differences in the converted data when compared with the previous Do-Files.

CPDS – CHES – CMP Data Connection

The following code files and documents merges data from CPDS with the Chapel Hill Expert Survey and the Comparative Manifesto Project. Additionally, it allows users to calculate scores of selected variables by party composition in parliaments or governments.

More information on the code and output can be found in the accompanying note.
